Winter feels like the time for knitting and that's what I have been doing. I made Charlie Bofur gloves, the exact pattern and wool used in the Hobbit movie for the dwarf Bofur (Charlotte loves Lord of the Rings.) As soon as they were off my needles they were on her hands, no blocking for Charlie! I'm knitting a cardy for me and some socks. Making socks was one of my goals this year so for my first attempt I am knitting Easy Peasy socks. I find the self-striped wool fascinating, such pretty patterns for such little effort! Other knitting projects in the queue are fingerless gloves for Josh (14 years) and a hat for me.
And the bundle of fabrics in the last photo? I am going to be playing with them on Sunday, Wendy xx
Hope all the sickies at your house are better.
ReplyDeleteLove the Bofur gloves, I am with Charlotte. I love the LOTR and the hobbit movies(and books)
lovely wools on your needles.
looking forward to seeing your progress on Sunday.

We have a coonara fire and I just love it (except for all the dust!). It makes the house so cosy. I hope Charlie and Paul feel better soon. Enjoy your sewing on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing what you are going to make! xx
ReplyDeleteWood fires and Autumn leaves, it's my favourite time if year. And if I could knit very well that's what I would be doing too! Your projects look great, and will be snuggly on your lap while you work on them.
ReplyDeleteOh winter is my fav season! But it is slow coming to the north. No fires for us yet, I plan to make a big pot of soup this weekend though, so that might invite winter our way! Love the gloves, very cosy looking. Oh what will you make with the selvages? I have a rather large growing collection of them, I have made several things with them.
ReplyDeleteI hope the family gets better soon, I'm sure the fire will help make everyone feel cosy & happy.
I have to say I love Autumn but the light closing in so early I don't like so much. Oh a nice warm fire would be nice to cosy up next to I hope that everyone starts to feel better soon. I am enjoying knitting too now after a long time away from it and especially more so now it's cooler:) Have a wonderful weekend. xxx

I love winter too.. which is just as well because we get a lot of it here! Sock wool is great isn't it.. so are lovely warm socks. Love your winter knitting. Hope all your patients are feeling better... and you have avoided catching the plague.
ReplyDeleteHope the cold get better real quick . Looks like you have found the perfect way to enjoy the cosy fire , knitting some lovely goodies .
ReplyDeleteWe've managed not to light the fire yet, we're snuggling under home made blankets for now, I think Joe is planning to bring some wood down from the shed this week, we may succumb very soon! Not sure exactly where you are but we're bound to be getting similar weather. Our road runs almost parallel to the Waipa so we're getting some good Waikato fog in the mornings. I too have said I want to knit socks, but I found a crocheted sock pattern so that's more my thing. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the fabrics. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteEvery season has such lovely things doesn't it.... so nice to get the warm things going... hope the sniffles have left the house... I have always thought hand made socks is the height of luxury... have fun with yours...
