Little finishes

February is always a busy month here.  Everything starts up again and it feels like a rush to catch up with things that have been left to lie in January.  Sometimes I feel the need to stop and catch my breath, write my list and then get going again.  Little projects appeal to me, I can work on them in the evenings and finish reasonably quickly.  I loved making the owl wrist warmers and have got much quicker at knitting them as I need to read the pattern less.  One pair is winging it's way to my niece in Canada and the other is for Charlie.  The Always and Forever cross stitch is complete and I am on the hunt for an appropriate frame otherwise I will take it to a framer.  And the last couple of days I made Charlie a phone pouch from Anni Downs 'In the Life of a Bag' book, to carry her MP4 player around.
Outside things are still quite dry and I am sure I can feel the promise of autumn in the air.  Paul's cactus has flowered more this year than ever, I think we have had ten flowers already and there are more to come.  Paul captured these photos in the early morning sun and I think they look beautiful.  Wendy xx

    Lovely little finishes. The hand warmers are so cute and will be so snug when winter rolls around. The cross stitch will be a treasured keepsake. I have never seen a cactus flower like that, so different.

    The owl wrist warmers are very cool! Love your other finishes also, but the cross stitch is a favourite. Beautiful flowers on the cactus-must be how dry it has been this season.

    Gorgeous finishes Wendy - I love them all. I know what you mean about small projects being ideal at times. Northland is really dry too. I agree - the cactus flowers are beautiful.

    LOVE love the owl gloves! although I think it might be a tad warm for them now.
    Funny sometimes it's the little projects that take me the longest to finish??
    How tall is the cactus??

    Hope you are going to knit another pair of owl wrist warmers for yourself! They are beautiful. You've been busy with some lovely projects. Love the cactus ... and the clear blue skies in the morning. Still seems strange that you are anticipating Autumn while we are longing for spring!

    Oh love your Owly wrist warmers. I need a pair of them to keep my hands warm when reading in bed in winter. Shame i can't knit. Lol. They are so cute. Lots of lovely finishes Wendy. Cactus are amazing.

    I always admire your beautiful creations Wendy, those wrist warmers are so cute, love the grey. I am sure they will be well received by your niece, how lucky is she to get something so beautifully made:) I hope that the weather has been cooler with only a few days left of Summer and that some rain has come your way it's awful when things get so dry.
